Across three elementary schools, LG2 removed the old manual operable walls in every gym and replaced them with Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier Electric walls. Now it's a turn of a key, and the gym is split and ready.

How the space works
What the job needed
Lakeshore Community Schools (Lakeshore Public Schools) in Stevensville splits the gyms at Hollywood, Stewart and Roosevelt elementary schools for PE, lunch time and events. Each gym had an old manual operable wall that staff had to wrestle into place panel by panel.
A standard roll-down gym curtain only blocks the view. The district wanted a real wall: sound control and a clean, finished room on both sides, so two groups can use the gym at the same time without the noise carrying over.
What LG2 installed
LG2 demolished the old manual walls and installed a new Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier Electric operable wall in each of the three gyms. Each wall is 60'-0" wide and 17'-11" high, with 15 continuously hinged panels rated STC 50.
The walls run on electric power. Staff turn the keyed switches and the panels travel out of the stack, close the opening and seal on their own. Modernfold electric walls use two keyed switches activated together, so only authorized staff can run them.
The panels are two-tone: vinyl on the lower half so it is easy to clean, and fabric on the upper half for sound absorption. A pass door with a recessed exit sign keeps both sides connected when the wall is closed.
