Data Center Aisle Containment: Tate Doors & Hard Partitions

Tate hot aisle and cold aisle containment for data centers: single and dual hinged doors, single and dual sliding doors and aluminum hard partitions that seal the aisle and minimize air leakage between hot and cold air streams. LG2 sells, supplies and installs Tate aisle containment.

Data center infrastructure

Aisle Containment in the data hall

Aisle containment separates the hot exhaust air leaving the servers from the cold supply air feeding them. Closing off the ends and tops of the aisle keeps the two air streams from mixing, so the cooling system delivers air where the racks draw it in.

Tate builds its containment from aluminum framing with factory-installed compression gaskets around the door frames to minimize air leakage. Doors are fully supported by the floor, with rack attachments for lateral stability, and use a no-threshold design so there is nothing to trip over at the aisle entrance.

Containment works together with a raised access floor and airflow panels on the supply side, and with a structural ceiling for the aisle roof, cable trays and busway overhead.

Data center applications

  • Hot aisle containment

Enclose the hot aisle so server exhaust returns to the cooling units without mixing into the room.

  • Cold aisle containment

Enclose the cold aisle over perforated or grate airflow panels so supply air goes to the rack inlets.

  • Aisle end doors

Hinged or sliding doors close each end of the aisle while keeping access for technicians and equipment.

  • Sealing gaps

Custom-sized aluminum hard partitions close the gaps around racks, rows and ceilings that let air leak.

Tate containment products

Single Hinged Door

A single aisle-end door with a standard right or left hinge, custom built to suit the data center. Viewing panels in clear or multiwall polycarbonate.

  • Full perimeter compression gaskets minimize air leakage
  • No-threshold design prevents tripping
  • Right or left hinge option
  • Aluminum framing, fully supported by the floor with rack attachments
  • Clear or multiwall polycarbonate panels; ASTM E84 Class A rated Tate 8mm Multiwall available

Dual Hinged Door

A pair of hinged aisle-end doors. Frame components are pre-assembled and fully floor supported, with rack attachments for lateral stability.

  • Pre-assembled panels and integrated door slide-locks for a quick installation
  • Perimeter compression gaskets minimize air leakage
  • No-threshold design and ergonomic angled handles that reduce pinch points
  • Clear and multiwall panel options in three finish options
  • ASTM E84 Class A rated Tate 8mm Multiwall panels available

Dual Sliding Door

A pair of sliding aisle-end doors. Pre-assembled frame components connect to the header rail, and integrated slide-locks simplify installing the doors onto the frame.

  • Full perimeter compression gaskets minimize air leakage
  • No-threshold design prevents tripping
  • Aluminum framing and ergonomic angled handles
  • Clear or multiwall polycarbonate panels; ASTM E84 Class A rated Tate 8mm Multiwall available

Hard Partition

An aluminum alternative to soft (curtain) partitions for hot or cold aisles, custom-sized for each job to seal the gaps and areas where air leaks.

  • Pre-assembled with supplied brackets
  • Modular design: all parts screw together
  • Transparent or semi-transparent panels
  • Compression gaskets minimize air leakage

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does LG2 install Tate aisle containment?
Yes. LG2 sells, supplies and installs Tate aisle containment doors and hard partitions, along with the Tate raised access floor and airflow panels they sit on.
What is the difference between hot aisle and cold aisle containment?
Hot aisle containment encloses the aisle the servers exhaust into, so hot air goes back to the cooling units. Cold aisle containment encloses the aisle the servers draw air from, usually over raised floor airflow panels. Both keep hot and cold air from mixing; the right choice depends on the room, the cooling system and the rack layout.
Which Tate containment doors are available?
Tate offers single hinged, dual hinged, single sliding and dual sliding doors, plus aluminum hard partitions. Doors use full perimeter compression gaskets, a no-threshold design and clear or multiwall polycarbonate panels.
Does containment work with a raised access floor?
Yes. Tate containment doors are fully supported by the floor with rack attachments for lateral stability, and cold aisle containment is commonly paired with Tate airflow panels in the raised floor below.
Where can I get Tate containment datasheets?
Each product on this page links to Tate's datasheet and installation guide. LG2 can also collect the documents for your submittal.
